Lowell celebrates its 30th Annual Christmas Through Lowell event during November. Area residents and visitors looking for a unique Christmas gift or home décor can find what they are looking for while supporting the Lowell community during this popular shopping experience.
“More than 60 homes and businesses will present a distinctive location to kick off your holiday season in and around historic Lowell,” said Liz Baker, the Executive Director of the Lowell Area Chamber of Commerce.
More than 350 artists, crafters, and businesses showcase gifts, homemade crafts, and more during the weekend of November 18-20. The hours of the event are from 9 am to 9 pm on Friday, November 18, from 9 am to 7 pm on Saturday, November 19, and from 11 am to 5 pm on Sunday, November 20.
“We call it our premier shopping event,” Baker states. It’s the largest deluxe shopping extravaganza held within our Lowell community. Some of what will be available includes antiques and handcrafted items of jewelry, Christmas decorations, home art creations, re-found treasures, garden art, beeswax candles, crocheted and knitted crafts, hand-crafted purses and bags and homemade rugs and quilts. Each vendor location is an exclusive mini shopping experience. Area businesses also get involved in the event which draws thousands of people to the community.
Baker explained the event started when deer season was popular, and spouses would need something to do while their partner was hunting.
“Now, it has grown to much more than a ladies’ shopping event. Women, men, families, friends all come to our area from our community, county and even out of state in order to experience this annual tradition.”
When someone visits a minimum of 15 participating craft or business locations and gets their punch/stamp card verified, they can enter into a drawing for a chance to win one-of-a-kind door prize. Each location will display the door prize.
More than 8000 personal invitation postcards are mailed to past shoppers. Those postcards can also be entered into one grand prize drawing. The grand prize consists of items from all the participating locations collected into a large grand prize basket.
While the event runs for three days, each individual location sets hours, so attendees should check the hours ahead of time. “You will want to make sure the locations you want to visit are open the days you plan to attend the event,” said Baker.
The Christmas Through Lowell Official Tour Guide and Map will be available at any crafter or participating business along Main Street beginning the end of October. The guide will be posted on this site along with links.
